Overview

Every year, St. Paul hosts a track team to compete with 24 Diocese schools. 
Our team is broken down according to following grade and gender:

  • 4th & 5th grade boys
  • 4th & 5th grade girls
  • 6th, 7th grade boys
  • 6th, 7th grade girls
  • 8th grade boys
  • 8th grade girls

4th and 5th grade events

  • Softball Throw
  • Long Jump
  • Shot-put
  • 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m
  •  800m Run
  • 200m Shuttle Relay
  • 400m, 800m Relays

6th, 7th & 8th grade events

  • High Jump
  • Long Jump
  • Shot-put
  • Discus
  • 100m, 200m, 400m Dash
  • 800m, 1600m Runs
  • 400m, 800m, 1600m Relays
  • 110m, 200m Low Hurdles

Tryouts

There are no tryouts at any grade level.

Meets

There are 5 meets per season (one per week) held mostly at DeSales HS and Hartley HS. Meets are an all day commitment (9:00 – 4:00) on Saturdays.

Practices

There will be three practices a week and will most likely be at Westerville Central HS. Practices usually last about an hour and a half (Mon, Wed and Thurs).

Equipment

Participants will be provided track jerseys only. All shorts and shoes must be provided by the athlete. All throwing equipment will be provided by the school.

Rules

Ohio High School track and field rules apply for all grades. Amended rules specific to diocesan track and field can be found on the Columbus Diocesan Recreation website.
